Summary/Abstract: The Roman Catholic Hungarians of Sivac in Bácska lived together with Orthodox Serbs and German Evangelical church members during the 18–19. century forming together a village community, later on a borough, where they lived as linguistic and religious minority. By the end of the 18th century a significant number of Catholics Germans settled down in the borough, becoming part of the church unit of the Hungarian Catholics and demanding more and more rights and privileges for themselves in religious life. Thus, the Roman Catholic Hungarians of Sivac were suppressed in the shadow of Orthodoxy and Protestantism, while on the other hand they were facing the demanding Germans of their own Catholic parish with whom they had to argue and fight a lot. Archbishop The Archives in Kalocsa preserves some documents and complaints concerning this struggle. The author elaborated the topic on the basis of these widely quoted complaints.
