Summary/Abstract: In the summer of 2017. we participated in field research in southern Banat thanks to Ethnographic Society "Lajos Kiss". In the focus of our ethnographic camp and data gathering with the elements field recognition were the various aspects of interethnic relations. We were especially interested in the coexistence and "common" customs of an ethnically mixed population in Skorenovac where we built our camp. In this paper, on the basis of ethnological and anthropological research, we looked for the answer to the question how ethnic groups of Sekelis, Palocs, Segeds, Germans, Bulgarians and Serbs confirm their ethnic identity to themselves as well as to strangers during wedding celebrations. By focusing on the characteristics of thebest man, as one of the participants in the wedding, through analyzing his expected features and tasks we tried to answer the question on what kind of motivation, both on a personal and collective level, is this apparently dominant discourse organized and beyond that the identities in Skorenovac. Which factors influenced the identity forming during the history.
