Summary/Abstract: The article focuses on the school choice in order to understand the strategies that middle-class families follow in the field of education in order to shape the social status of their children. In this context, the study aims to show the relationship between social status and school choices private school choices of middle-class families. In the study, which proposes that private school preferences are a cultural capital investment in order to differentiate children from the general classes and increase their social status, interviews were conducted with 30 parents who send their children to 15 different private schools in İzmir by using semi-structured interview method. In this article, it is tried to show the effect of private school preferences on social differentiation in order to improve the social position of middle-class family’s children.
