Summary/Abstract: The article shows the development of the idea of gender and its impact on understand-ing human rights in international law. In this context, the problem of a possible conflict between the rights of LGBt persons and the freedom to preach religious doctrine by the Catholic Church was raised. As a result of the conducted analyzes, it was concluded that in the current legal status in force in the Republic of Poland, criticism of the idea ofgen-der as well as the lifestyle of LGBt people is legally permissible, provided that its content is consistent with the doctrine of a given church or other religious association, not will violate their personal rights and criminal law. In addition, it was found that the perfor-mance by representatives of the Catholic Church of their functions, moral assessments and criticism of gender ideology, as well as the effects of its implementation in social life, falls within the free exercise of the mission of the Church, due to the content of its religious doctrine.
