Summary/Abstract: One of the factors which foster political polarization of polishsociety is the D’Hondt voting method. Replacing it with thepreferential methods – Instant Runoff Voting and Schulze methodswould reduce the political polarization and thus increase the nationalintegrity. The preferential methods would incentivise the politicalparties to use more conciliatory rhetoric. Instant Runoff Voting wouldencourage them to court for a vote of the moderate voters, instead ofbasing on their core electorates. In turn, the Schulze method wouldtend to advantage the most compromise parties and thus woulddiscourage the politicians from using aggressive and confrontationalrhetoric and strategies. Nonetheless, implementation of the newsystem would also create risks, especially in case of the Schulzemethods, which was never applied in any country on the central level.
