Summary/Abstract: This quantitative study examined the relationships between four types of parenting attitudes and adult separation anxiety among 493 parents of children attending preschool. Independent-samples t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson correlation revealed that parental educational levels were related to significant differences among all four parenting attitudes. The female respondents’ mean scores on the ASA [Adult Separation Anxiety Questionnaire] were higher than those of the male respondents. Significant differences in the parents’ ASA scores were related to their ages, educational levels, house types and monthly incomes. There was also a negative relationship between separation anxiety and the authoritative parenting attitude, and a positive relationship between separation anxiety and the other three attitudes studied.
