Summary/Abstract: The onset of fatigue has a major impact on the individual and social development of a person, due to its negative effects on health. Chronic fatigue leads to decreased immunity andneuropsychiatric disorders. Chronic fatigue can manifest itself as a neurosis with mental orpsychosomatic symptoms, such as ulcer or blood pressure, sleep disturbances, psychoemotional disorders, sensory disturbances and various neurovegetative changes. Fatigueoccurs after periods of stress, intense physical activity, lack of sleep or prolonged illness.Chronic fatigue syndrome is found in cases where a few weeks of rest do not improve thecondition. The treatment of chronic fatigue is individualized according to the underlyingcause of fatigue. By helping patients with rheumatic diseases to adopt healthier and moreactive lifestyle habits, cognitive behavioural therapy has proved to be effective for reducingfatigue in these cases characterized by intense pain and poor prognosis.
