Summary/Abstract: In this article the authors introduce the radical project of phenomenological philosophy and argue that the idea behind the project was to give philosophy a new beginning. The authors refer to selected works of Edmund Husserl and to his correspondence with Arnold Metzger. They discuss Husserl’s critique of philosophy and science, and his motivations for creating a new scientific philosophy, which applies a radical method of reduction. According to Husserl, the new phenomenological philosophy will ultimately lead to overcoming the crisis of rationality and to the spiritual renewal of humanity.
