Summary/Abstract: The article makes use of data collected throughout a scientific project on migration to arguethat cultural heritage plays an important role in the effort to cope with new environments.The analysis is focused on traditional memory and folk customs that are completely differentfrom cultural practices specific to host countries. Romanian immigrants tend to become moreaware of their legacy after they experience migration challenges. Mental instability andanxiety finds solutions in Orthodox religion and traditional behaviour.
