Summary/Abstract: The fall of the River regime, which was already in a very difficult situation as early as the early 1930s, was immediately accelerated by a severe financial crisis. The remarkably heterogeneous opposition, which brings together truly completely different political forces, also actively contributed to this unraveling. High military circles, to which the dictator addressed a pathetic challenge three days before his fall, responded lukewarmly to his request for support. The king focused on the opposition. On January 28, 1930, Primo de Rivera resigned and soon after died in exile in Paris. The king commissioned General Damas Berenguer to form a new government, followed by Admiral Aznar, who was to restore constitutionality.
