Summary/Abstract: This study examines the practice of the European Court of Human Rights regarding the domestic violence. Notified by complaints arising from the domestic violence at national level, the Court examined them in terms of violations of several rights under the Convention for the Protection of Fundamental Rights and Freedoms - the right to life, the right not to be tortured, the right to privacy, the right to non-discrimination. The Court's practice is broad and shows the firmness and rigor with which this large-scale phenomenon is analyzed at European level.
