Summary/Abstract: L’article propose une méditation mi-ironique, mi-mélancolique sur la variation de nos critères d’évaluation de la monstruosité et de la barbarie, en utilisant quelques exemples de l’histoire de l’Occident mais aussi de l’histoire de l’Extrême-Orient. // This article proposes for consideration a meditation which is half ironical, half melancholic on the way our appreciation criteria of monstrosity and barbarity vary, using examples from the history of the Western world and of the Far East.
