Summary/Abstract: The Act of 5 December 2008 on amending the Bankruptcy and Reorganization Law and the Act on Court Costs in Civil Proceedings introduced to the Bankruptcy and Reorganization Law of 28 February 2003 the rules concerning special bankruptcy proceedings against natural persons not conducting commercial activity (“the consumer bankruptcy”).The former Ordinance of the President of the Republic of 24 October 1934 – Bankruptcy Law, the first Polish modern source of the bankruptcy law, and the Bankruptcy and Reorganization Law of 28 February 2003 until the above mentioned amendment applied only to the entrepreneurs.
