Summary/Abstract: Two groups of dilemmas are shortly presented in the article. One of them concerns relations between theoretical knowledge on teaching and teachers’ thinking. Author describes several obstacles on the way from theory of teaching to everyday school practice and sets the question of conditions for legitimization theoretical knowledge. Another group of dilemmas concerns views on human nature that are historically grounded and have an influence on our thinking about school and education
