Summary/Abstract: This article aims to examine Vanilla Sky, the movie directed by Cameron Crowein 2001, focusing on the philosophy of solipsism and hyperreality. Moreover, thearticle is innovative in that it blends Berkeley’s solipsist philosophy andBaudrillard’s theory of hyperreality with LSD psychology at the micro level ofthe human mind to reveal the macro level of the perspective in solipsistphilosopy and hyperreality. LSD will be the subject matter while analyzingVanilla Sky to examine how it is possible for the human mind to recreate thehyperreal in an endless cycle; how it is impossible to distinguish between thereal and the imaginary; and how everything in the human’s world is the creationof his mind, which is his dream. When the analysis of Vanilla Sky is considered, most analysts try to interpret all actions through David’s eyes. In this sense, another probability is that all events may have taken place in Sofia’s mind.Initially, this study will follow the Vanilla Sky odyssey from Sofia’s point ofview, and will try to demonstrate that Vanilla Sky is all about Sofia’s dream, nothing more.
