Summary/Abstract: From January 1919 the Serbian army occupied Banat County up to Lugoj and Caransebeş. By occupying most of the Banat County, Serbia wanted to face the Great Powers and Romania, with an accomplished fact, respectively the granting of the Banat County to Serbia. The Banat intellectuals organized as the Banat League organized the Lugoj Assembly on 10th of June 1919, where attended over 70.000 people. The Archpriest of Lugoj – George Popoviciu, in the opening of the Assembly said: “Our representatives who were able to attend the memorable Assembly from Alba Iulia told there their word”. The adopted Motion, stated that the Assembly “is denouncing to the civilized world, the blackmail of the Serbian army by surprisingly occupation of the Banat County, as well as by the whole system of persecution to which was exposed our people”. With the action of the Banat people, the whole Transylvania was in solidarity. The protest actions of the inhabitants of Hunedoara County, which took place in Hunedoara, Deva, Haţeg, Petroşani, Vulcan and Lupeni, were requested by the Governing Council of Sibiu.
