The Restoration, Scientific and Expositional Valorisation of a Cult Vessel from the Late Bronze Age Settlement at Şoimuş – Teleghi, Hunedoara County

Summary/Abstract: The interdisciplinary collaboration – archaeologist, investigator, restorer, conservator – allowed the completion of the research and expositional valorisation efforts, through the reconstruction by scientific means, of the original form of a ceramic artefact which reflects elements of the spiritual life in its decoration. Regaining the integrity of the vessel and its ornamentation offers the possibility of reading the symbolism of the motifs and their interpretation by specialists, such as preserving the cultural information of the people who created and used them.The paper presents the stages of a decorated ceramic vessel from its discovery until its conservation (Pl. I-IV). All the operations have been described respectively collecting the potsherds on the archaeological site, their examination in the laboratory, cleaning the ceramic surface, pasting the fragments for the restoration of the recipient, and, finally, its conservations. After finishing the restoration-conservation process, the item was valorised in the museum’s exhibition, being presented to the public through the expositional project “The Exhibit of the Month”.
