Summary/Abstract: Cryptographic currencies, commonly called cryptocurrencies, are becoming widely traded. Although there are already over 1500 different cryptocurrencies, bitcoin has become the most popular, i.e. the cryptographic currency based on the peer-to-peer system created in 2009. Despite the growing interest in the subject, it is still unclear what bitcoin is under criminal law and whether it may be an object of a crime. Answers to these problematic issues are the main subject of the study.
