Summary/Abstract: This paper discusses the main structures and processes of globalization in the context of the corona virus pandemic. It begins by revisiting the historical processes that have led to interstate economic, cultural, political, and security interdependence, and the consequent erosion of the capabilities of nation - states. The paper then proceeds to examine the inability of global institutions to cope with the pandemic, which has demonstrated that the nation – state remain the primary actor at the global political map. Yet, the discussion also shows that there is no viable alternative to globalinterdependence, and there is the resultant need for a more effectivetransnational governance
