Summary/Abstract: The author presents provenance analysis of the fragments of the book collection belonging to the Cistercians from Greater Poland preserved at the University of Warsaw Library as well as explaining how books from the Prussian Partition monasteries ended up at the Public Library at the University of Warsaw– founded in Russian Partition. Relatively few copies from Bledzew, Obra, Paradyż and Wągrowiec came from (supposedly) carefully selected donations to the Warsaw Lyceum and the Library of the Appellate Court. Books from Ląd – located in the Kingdom of Poland – came to the Public Library of the Royal University of Warsaw after the dissolution of the monastery in 1819. The book collection of the Cistercians from Greater Poland grew thanks to the legacies of the dead monks, particularly parish priests subordinate to monasteries (for instance parsons in Godziszew, Wilhelm Kędzierski and Antoni Libaber) or confessors of nuns (as unknown by name Andrzej, holding this function in Owińska). The preserved copies also testify that the organization of the monastery libraries; in the 18th century best organized were in Ląd and Obra.
