Summary/Abstract: Based on the literature of the subject and the latest data concerning the most recent period, the author analyses the influence of rural residents on political changes in Poland in the years 1918–2018. She distinguishes two types of political participation: contestation participation and legitimacy participation. The first is a series of village/peasant/agricultural protests in the Second and Third Republic of Poland and in the People’s Republic of Poland. The legitimacy participation is analysed only in the Second and Third Republics; the period of the People’s Republic of Poland is omitted – because of the lack of reliable data. Two phenomena are analysed here: electoral turnout in parliamentary elections and the dynamics of political orientations of rural residents.
