Summary/Abstract: Its wealth and blurriness make the concept of tolerance vulnerable and question its efficiency. In order for it to be practical for us today, we have to constantly adapt its content and its conditions of use to the new circumstances. It undoubtedly has the advantage of uniting values such as freedom, justice, willingness to engage in dialogue, openness and understanding, and thus indirectly to outlaw also the most diverse forms of oppression and violence against the spirit, all varieties of totalitarianism and harmonization of thought, all forms of racism, foreclosure, and discrimination.
