Summary/Abstract: The collective volume Romania at the crossroads: options for the future, published at the Pro Universitaria publishing house in 2015, discusses the need to develop a new country project. In this context, topics of real interest for the Romanian society are proposed, such as the state functioning system, the demographic changes or the existing economic and social inequalities. The paper, coordinated by Cătălin Zamfir and Iulian Stănescu, is made up of ten chapters bringing insights from sociology, history, demography and administrative sciences. Once the coordinators` and the authors` studies are consulted, a series of possible solutions are outlined to help reduce the social risks to which Romania is facing. Therefore, the volume proves to be extremely useful to the academic environment, to the practitioners concerned with the quality of life under various dimensions and, obviously, to policy makers in the field of public policy. Of course, it also contributes to increasing the capacity of the academic environment in Romania to develop national and European strategic partnerships, in order to enhance the scientific results obtained.
