Summary/Abstract: The village of Marca (commune Marca, Sălaj County) is located in the western part of Sylvanian Basin. The rescue archaeological researches performed in 2012 were aimed at rescuing the archaeological vestiges and releasing the archaeological discharge documents, establishing the stratigraphy of the site and collecting as much data as possible on the type of habitat. As for the chronological identification of the early medieval habitation from Marca-Sfărăuaș I, the characteristics of the discovered archaeological inventory and the ones of the types of identified features indicate a chronological horizon defined by the 7th and the 8th centuries (rather the second half of the 7th century – the first half of the 8th century), thus during the middle horizon and the first half of the late horizon of the Avar Khaganate.
