Summary/Abstract: The article explores the conditions and principles of the use of electronic textbooks and e-learning aids in the process of preparing future teachers of history in higher education institutions, which contribute to improving the effectiveness of educational activities of future history teachers and the formation of their professional competence. Analyzing scientific approaches, it has been interpreted the terms "electronic textbooks and manuals" as complex multimedia educational tools structured with the help of hypertext, multimedia and hypermedia texts, biographies and portraits of historical figures, maps, historical documents, chronological tables, illustrations, video clips, a test program to test knowledge and skills.
