Summary/Abstract: The article describes the reasons for the elimination of the Prosvita cultural and educational society by the Polish authorities in Volyn Province in the late 1920-s and early 1930s. The policy of the Polish authorities concerning the Ukrainian national movement in Volyn was described, and the position of the Volyn governor Henrik Yuzevsky concerning "Enlightenment" was analyzed. The reasons and features of liquidation of the Prosvita Society in Volyn are disclosed, the consequences of this event on the socio-political and cultural processes in the province were analyzed.
