Summary/Abstract: The weapons airdrop in Lubla on 1 July 1944 belonged to one of the most dangerous weapons delivery operations for Polish partisans. It took place as part of the third period of airdrops, which was codenamed “Riposta” (Polish for “Retort”) and lasted from 1 August 1943 to 31 July 1944. In that period, 205airdrops were made. The efficient retrieval of the dropped weapons by about100 Home Army soldiers from nearby towns and villages enabled the local partisans to engage in combat against both German and Soviet occupiers. The historic plaque installed on 7 July 2002 in the School Complex in Lubla commemorates the airdrop.
