Summary/Abstract: This text deals with the topic of definition of relevant market for the purposes of protection of competition in the energy sector. With the use of examples related to two essential energy commodities, electricity and natural gas, the approach of the European Commission to the use of concepts included in the key Communication of the European Commission on definition of relevant market is illustrated together with position of the European Commission on definition of individual markets for specific activities connected with the above-mentioned commodities.
