Summary/Abstract: Purpose – Technological developments and changes in social and economic life drag companies into an increasingly competitive environment and make it important to adopt the understanding of innovation that comes with it. In this respect, the attention paid to new product development projects for manufacturing companies has become even more different. The aim of this study is to evaluate the relationship between the success factors affecting the success of the project and the internal and external risk factors that the companies conducting studies on new product development in Adana encounter in the process of new product development. Design/methodology/approach – According to the report published by the Directorate General of Research and Development of the Ministry of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Turkey, a survey was conducted using face-to-face interviews with experts in research and development from enterprises operating in the textile and food sectors operating in Adana and having its own R & D Center. Internal and external risks encountered during the process of new product development were put forward based on the evaluations made by the experts. The Fuzzy DEMATEL technique, which is the most suitable one for the study among the Multi Criteria Decision Making Techniques, was used to determine the relationships between the success factors determined and the relative importance of these factors in order to prevent these risks.
