Trends and Directions in Modernizing the Conservation-Restoration Laboratory

Summary/Abstract: The conservation and restoration of cultural and military heritage is primarily a matter of scientific research and then of technical implementation. In this case a key role is played by the conservation and restoration laboratory where heritage objects regain their authenticity and health, thus ensuring the perpetuation of their historical and aesthetic message to the visitors. Scientific research must be combined with the use of advanced technology proposing a qualitative jump on upgrading the laboratory by new methods and technologies for the conservation and restoration of cultural property collections to prolong the life of the objects and to save the national military heritage.
