Summary/Abstract: The period from 1918 to 1939 in Polish Cultural History was a privileged period in which colorful, cheerful, original, pessimistic and complex works emerged under an independent state after the occupation of more than a century. The story of Iwaszkiewicz entitled Brzezina (Beech Tree Grove) which was published in 1932, was considered one of the most striking and bravest works of Polish literature during this period. In Brzezina, nature is constantly changing and transforming and consequently the transformative effect on human body and psychology is discussed. Brzezina's story is based on mythical themes.
