Summary/Abstract: After World War II, the sociopolitical situation in Europe changed. At that time, Poland lost its eastern areas and Volynia. The nuns, who worked there were forced to leave their current institutions and move within the borders of the country. It also concerned the Missionary Sisters of St. Benedict. One of the new institutions chosen by the nuns was Zagórów. It was where, in first years after the war, they initiated a number of important social activities. Among others, they run a nursery school, orphanage and a home for the elderly. Unfortunately, an escalating conflict between the Church and the state led to closing down or nationalizing their institutions and, consequently, to limiting their activities in Zagórów. The Missionary Sisters of St. Benedict nuns came to the town in 1945, and left it in 2009.
