Summary/Abstract: While child abuse represents the commission of a violent act by parents or caretaker, child neglect involves the ommission to meet the basic needs of the child by parents or caretaker. In both cases the offenders are parents or caretakers, but society, community, culture, political context may contribute to child abuse and neglect. The development of prevention startegies for children and their parents is the way in which we can help to gather the necessary resources to obliterate child abuse and neglect.
