MINIMUM STANDARDS FOR RECEIVING ASYLUM APPLICANTS IN EU MEMBER STATES

Summary/Abstract: Council Directive 2003/9 / EC of 27 January 2003 laying down minimum standards for the reception of asylum seekers in Member States is aimed at ensuring adequate and comparable reception conditions in the Union. Several Member States have taken steps to increase their capacity of reception in the system, especially those states who have been particularly affected by the influx of applicants in the Western Balkans. European Asylum Support Office is responsible for facilitating the exchange of information and identify best practices and create compliance measurement regarding asylum in general.
