Summary/Abstract: The present study analyzes the relationship of the teacher´s interaction style and his/her trait emotional intelligence level. The verification of the relationship of these two variables was carried out using data from TEIQue-SF (Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire - short form, Petrides, 2009; slovak translation Kaliská, Nábělková, 2015) and self-response Questionnaire for Teacher Interaction (Wubbels, Levy, 1993; slovak translation Gavora, Mareš, 2000) on a sample of 105 teachers (16.19% men) of elementary and secondary schools from different regions in Slovakia. Research findings suggest that the better the teacher understands his/her own feelings and is able to empathize with other people's feelings, the more s/he can create a relaxed atmosphere during the lessons, is more patient, friendly and considerate and can accept failures and mistakes of pupils and also is more enthusiastic for the classroom atmosphere.
