Şükrü Ertürk’ün Prof. Dr. Aziz Sancar Ekslibrisi Üzerine Bir İnceleme
An Analysis on Şükrü Ertürk’s Aziz Sancar Exlibris

Summary/Abstract: Advances in science and technical fields are having an impact in art, as well. Inspired by 2015 Nobel Prize winner Prof. Dr. Aziz Sancar’s contributions to science through his discoveries as well as his life story, Şükrü Ertürk designed an exlibris for Sancar in 2018. Objective of the research paper is to find out which stages of production, methods and techniques Şükrü Ertürk, one of the Turkish exlibris artists, used in creating the exlibris in the name of Prof. Dr. Aziz Sancar, what artists he was inspired by, and how he contributed to exlibris art in Turkey. The research has importance in making artists who create exlibris in Turkey visible as well as providing them a place in literature review. In the paper, personal contact with Şükrü Ertürk was preferred as a method. Information obtained during the personal contact were recorded as a written material. Şükrü Ertürk’s personal archive was used for the images in the paper. Exhibitions and interviews of the artist were attended. Information were obtained via e-mail with the artist. Academic catalogs were surveyed in order to enrich the research theoretically. The papers found were included as resources. As a result of the research, examples of Şükrü Ertürk’s technical and artistic craftsmanship were included in the paper. It was underlined that the artist is an acknowledged designer not only in Turkey but also in the international arena. All the results obtained were discussed in the paper.
