Summary/Abstract: Catering for BGs needs, in a context with different learning preferences, diverse cultures, functions and locations, means that the pedagogical quality of the training programmes has to be principled in that they shall use a variety of learning methodologies which focus on knowledge, skills and competence required by the job. Education and training of border guards has to be part of a process based on methods and tools which are specific for a practical oriented approach. Understanding training in this context means to take into consideration the characteristics of adult learning where the concepts are not didactic but interactive and problemoriented.
