The Relationship Between Scientific Publications with Policies and Plans in the Field of Railway Transport in Turkey

Summary/Abstract: The aim of this study are the profiles of the articles on railway transportation and determining the role of all scientific publications made in Turkey on railway transportation, in the determination of railway transportation policies and plans. In the study, articles about the railway transportation in the ULAKBİM database were examined by a bibliometric analysis method. In addition, the data obtained in the study is compared with the development plans and strategic plans related to railway transportation. Articles on railway transportation published in ULAKBİM constitute the universe of the research. The sample of the research consists of 120 articles published in ULAKBİM between 1994-2017. According to the research findings, it has been observed that there has been an increase in the number of articles and in the topic of the article after 2003, but there are no articles directly related to tourism transportation within the article topics. In addition, it has been observed that the impact of the scientific articles published in determining the objectives of the development plans, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure strategic plans and TCDD strategic plans are negligible.
