Summary/Abstract: The paper analyzes the biggest threats to the safety of citizens and the business environment in Romania and considers these represent manifestations of organized crime, specifically the most versatile, specialized and organized groups being concentrated in the economic and financial area (tax evasion, smuggling, illegal transactions, money laundering) and government contracts, constituting the main pillars of underground economy and sources of corruption
