Summary/Abstract: The contemporary understanding of animism allows us to look once more at folk heritage, which was honored by the Romantics and stores relics of the indigenous Slavic imagination. Stories, songs and chants reveal traces of traditional knowledge about the surrounding world, which draws from direct contact with nature and assumes the ontological equivalence of all creatures. Field research conducted by Zorian Dołęga Chodakowski not only preserves this non-anthropocentric past, but also makes us reflect today on the relevance of its most ethical proposals.
