Summary/Abstract: At the end of the 17th century, Western Europe was on the verge of a war for Spanish succession. In connection with the childless death of Karol II Habsburg, both Louis XIV and Leopold VI were interested in filling the throne in Madrid. Despite previous agreements and arrangements regarding the possible division of Spain, France and the emperor were preparing for war. Probably, because the analyzed document does not have a date, in 1700 French diplomats attempted to analyze the possibility of political and military support of Louis XIV by some German princes and bishops. In connection with this, they prepared a very interesting document, which is the basis for the author’s considerations of this article.
