Summary/Abstract: The article written by three authors from the Pedagogical Faculty of the University of Ostrava brings information about usage of the eye-tracking method within specialist didactic research. Usage of the Eye Tracker Tobii TX300 device and the appropriate software enables observation and registration of the eye movement during perception of various texts and visualization of their process in several forms (Heat Map, Gaze Replay, Gaze Plot, Gaze Opacity Map). Measurement with the help of the eye-tracking method was realised with primary school pupils whose level of understanding factual as well as artistic texts and used strategy of reading individual slides containing the source text together with questions and tasks to be solved were tested. The introduced long-time observation of quality of the readers’ technique and understanding texts by primary school pupils also seems to be perspective. The sample of respondents was represented by pupils who acquire the readers’ technique by both genetic and analytic-synthetic method. The eye-tracking method was also used for research of possible perception strategies of communication with verbal and non-verbal texts suitable for variegating of the mother language and history teaching of older pupils. During preliminary research two elaborated educational sets were used. One of them comprised an artistic text, photographs and didactic instructions, the second a historic caricature supplemented by a logically structured consecution of questionsand tasks. The preliminary research was realised with university students of the teacher training study programmes and their testing provided data for future analyses and insights leading to optimization of the process of testing.
