Summary/Abstract: This article examines the interrelationships between quantitative and qualitative research. Firstly, the essence and assumptions of quantitative and qualitative research methods were defined and the comparison between them was made on the basis of philosophy, quality metrology (a branch of science dealing with quality theory) and statistics. Moreover, the differences between the two types of research were discussed in the context of the planned experiments and empirical research. In the next part of the study, the possibilities of effective integration of quantitative and qualitative research in the proces of triangulation were described.
