Methods for compiling the services volume index by the example of office administrative and support activities

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to describe the methods for compiling the services volume index, named also as the index of services production (ISP), as well as its implementation in Polish practice. The influence, which the method for measuring turnover value (by product or by activity, regarding the size of enterprise) has on time series of production index for office administrative and support activities, was presented. In the research four methods for compiling the ISP were used and then the time series of indices computed for research period 2010—2014 were compared regarding the applied approaches. Based on the results it was settled that each method for computing the services volume index meets different information needs. Therefore, when the method for index computing is chosen, the purpose of undertaken analyses should be considered.
