Summary/Abstract: This article is a commemorative description of the Institute of Slavonic Philology at the Catholic University of Lublin, on the occasion of its 30th anniversary, a description far from complete and one that is simplified and very subjective, but one given by a person who had the honour to participate in the creation and history of this institute which was organised entirely by Professor Ryszard Łużny according to his personal concepts of teaching and research, and who had the opportunity to help launch the faculty. Currently—after the previous evolution of this centre of didactics and academia—there has been somewhat of an involution, or rather changes to its organisation and programme of studies. The School of Applied Linguistics, created in the 2017/2018 academic year, is a completely different, autonomous didactic entity, which is to be wished every success with this opening up of a new chapter in the history of teaching and research.
