Summary/Abstract: The present text is an interpretation of the results of my own research regarding the measurement of musical achievements of pupils of early school education in the area of listening to music. The article contains the key contents related to the methods of evaluation of educational achievements constituting a theoretical basis for the research subject. The testing and survey method was mainly utilized. The research was conducted on a sample of 375 third-grade students attending primary schools in Bydgoszcz. The main conclusions give a reflection on a diagnosis of the musical achievements of children at a younger school age. They correspond to other educational reports related to the measurement of the pupil’s musical potential. They show some strong and weak areas of musical education of children in terms of understanding of musical terms and consolidating of knowledge.
