Summary/Abstract: The establishment of the Camp of National Unity (Obóz Zjednoczenia Narodowego– OZN) in 1937 met with great interest of the citizens of the PiotrkówCounty. Social, economic, professional, political and veteran organizationsspontaneously joined the OZN. The new political entity was also supportedby some organizations that had previously been in opposition to the Sanationregime. It seemed that OZN found a fertile ground in the Piotrków County, based on which it would dominate the local political scene. In fact, OZN politiciansdid not take advantage of the initial social enthusiasm and did not manageto build the official party structures in the County. The central authoritiesof the Camp lost the opportunity to strongly establish their influence inthe local society. The lack of quick and decisive action led to a decrease in thewave of interest in the Camp, which meant that its functioning did notaboundin spectacular successes. Activists of the Camp of National Unity managed tobuild the district structure of the party and create representative offices in all24 municipalities (3 towns and 21 villages), but they did not manage to controlsocial moods.
