Summary/Abstract: Shah of Shahs by Ryszard Kapuściński is considered a controversial book – the opinions about it expressed by Iranian experts are definitely divergent. The author attempts to compare the selected facts from the history of Iran, which are described in the reportage, to the information gathered in other publications (including academic sources) on the topic. The analysis of the passages of the book, which were compared with relevant historical information, identified various types of factual inaccuracies – ranging from obvious factual errors to discrepancies implemented by the reporter deliberately. The greatest value of Kapuściński’s reportage is therefore not the objectivity of the message but its universality.
