Summary/Abstract: The article examines the application of the design-based method of learning in English language classes and the opportunities it gives teachers to create tasks which complexity and openness imitate problems in the real world. Students can see the cross-curricular nature of these tasks and realize that each task can have more than one solution. Students who have the freedom to choose different strategies and approaches can be engaged more actively in the learning process, thus increasing their motivation for learning foreign language. Presented and applied in the classes are the theoretical foundations of the project-based training, discussed are the difficulties encountered and are presented the benefits of the participation of the students in the project.
