Right of access to the documents of the European Union and the proposal of its reform from the point of view of practical access for EU citizens

Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to analyse European Union regulations governing the principles of access to the documents of the institutions, bodies and agencies of the EU. The analysis additionally includes a proposal on the reform of the right of access to documents and the state of the debate on this reform.Work on the new regulations has been suspended due to the political conflict inside the Council of the EU and that between the EU Council and the European Parliament.
